Nominations are being sought for the highly prestigious 2009 GlaxoSmithKline International Achievement Award.

The winner will receive a commemorative award, £1,000 in prize money and an invitation to attend the British Pharmaceutical Conference in September to give a lecture on their work.

Nominations are open to researchers in academia, industry, public service or any other scientific establishment; or researchers from these areas working collaboratively. Applicants who have demonstrated a substantial advancement in the application of scientific knowledge within the pharmaceutical sciences through published work over the last three years, are encouraged to apply. Applications will be judged on scientific quality and the actual or future applicability to industrial practice. Individuals or teams of up to six researchers from across the globe are welcome to apply and there is no age limit for applicants.

Nominations are requested either directly from the scientists nominated, or from any other individual/organisation within the pharmaceutical industry. Submissions should include the following:

- CV of the principal researcher
- Summary CV for each team member

- Summary (1,000 words maximum) of published work over the last three years and its importance to the pharmaceutical industry.

The successful applicant/s will be selected by a review panel of senior staff from GlaxoSmithKline.

Nominations should be made by 31 March 2009 to Jessica Phillips, Health Links Events Ltd, 3rd Floor, Windsor House, 11a High Street, Kings Heath, Birmingham, B14 7BB.

Notes

BPC 2009

The British Pharmaceutical Conference (BPC) is the annual conference of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain. BPC is changing in an exciting way, responding to the critical challenges facing pharmacy, the pharmaceutical sciences and the pharmaceutical industry.

From 2009 onwards, BPC will take place over four days instead of three, Sunday 6 September to Wednesday 9 September in Manchester. This is to allow the development of a dedicated pharmacy conference, practice@bpc, and a three day science conference, science@bpc. Each will have its own dedicated exhibition and careers fair. Go to www.bpc2009.org for more details.
