The Spanish city of Barcelona will be the center of attention for the medically interest as the World Congress of Andrology takes place. The event, that starts on Saturday 7th and continues through Wednesday 11th of March, is the name that covers four andrology congresses simultaneously:

- 9th International Congress of Andrology
- XIV Spanish Congreso of Andrology, Sexual and Reproductive Medicine
- XI Iberian Andrology Meeting
- IV Iberoamerican Andrology Meeting

The event will be held at the venue Palacio de Congresos de Catalunya, where an exhaustive program of conferences and symposiums will be offered by leading international experts that will comment novelties and medical and scientific progress. The organization is being undertaken by the Spanish Andrology Association (ASESA) and close to 1.400 experts from 35 countries are expected to attend the Congress.

"The Congress is an important milestone in the world of sexual and reproductive health. These days the most relevant experts as well as the researchers and doctors who will treat the patients. Important conclusions that will have an impact on our patients will come out from this Congress as well as lines of investigation for the next 10 years and the evolution and efficiency of medical-surgical actions. More than 100 invited professors, eminencies and experts from all areas will share their knowledge with the participants," says Dr. Ana Puigvert, secretary of the Spanish Andrology Association (ASESA) and of the Organizing Committee of the World Congress of Andrology.

The EAA, European Academy of Andrology, and the ISA, International Society of Andrology will also grant the EAA-ISA young investigator awards for ICA 2009

Andrology is the area of medicine that is dedicated to sexual and reproductive medicine. It treats every aspect related to the sexual function of both parts of a couple, human reproduction and masculine contraception. The main issues are sexual disorders and, among those, problems like erection, premature ejaculation, lack of ; el male testosterone deficit; morphology alterations and size of penis; alterations of libido in the male as well as women's inhibited sexual desire, anorgasmia and infertility in the couple.
