The American Cancer Society, ENT and Allergy Associates, LLP (ENTA) and Mt. Sinai Medical Center today honored a team of local high school students for their anti-smoking efforts that took shape in the form of a video. The presentation took place at the Westchester County Association's annual legislative breakfast.

Thanks to an award donated by ENTA, Sleepy Hollow High School will receive $2,000 for the students' work. The segment appears on Sleepy Hollow Digital News, the school's news station. The video concept takes the students inside the human body and describes the devastating effect that smoking has on a person's health. Although the $2,000 award was to be split among the school and the students, the students decided to contribute their portion back to the school. More than a dozen students contributed to the video's production. "It is thrilling to see local students become activists in the fight against Big Tobacco," said Rick Lepkowski, Regional Vice President, American Cancer Society. "Their recognition of the problem of tobacco use among youth, concern for their peers and the fact that they took action demonstrates character beyond their years."

"I'm so pleased with the efforts of our local students", said Dr. Jill Zeitlin, of ENT and Allergy's Sleepy Hollow office. "Making the decision not to smoke may be the single most important thing that they can do for their health. We are proud to have created this opportunity for students to be recognized and rewarded for their work, their commitment, and their creativity."
