The Huntercombe Group, one of the UK's largest independent providers of specialist healthcare, today announces the world's largest international conference on eating disorders with speakers attending from 35 countries around the world presenting the latest developments and research findings in the field. The annual conference, organised by world renowned eating disorders specialists Professor Bryan Lask and Dr Rachel Bryant-Waugh and sponsored by Huntercombe, will take place on 31 March - 2nd April 2009 at The Institute of Education, University of London.

The event, which is organized in association with the British Journal of Hospital Medicine, will provide a forum for learning and information exchange with workshops and presentations by top professionals in the field. It will also feature a wide range of papers detailing the latest developments in the understanding of causes, assessment and treatment of eating disorders.

This year, attention will focus on a neuroscience plenary session revealing the first findings of a global collaboration studying the function of the brain in anorexia nervosa. This is followed by a special interest group on neuroscience exploring the latest developments in the assessment and treatment of eating disorders.

Workshop topics will include the very latest findings in the interaction between the brain and the environment from neurobiological and environmental perspective, parent and child interaction around feeding, links between childhood abuse and bulimia, cognitive behavioral therapy, family treatment and perceived socio-cultural expectations.

Keynote speakers include Professor of Medical Psychology Andrew Hill, Head of Academic Unit of Psychiatry and Behavioural Sciences at Leeds University. Prof Jim Lock, Stanford University USA, Associate Professor Tracey Wade from Flinders University Australia, Dr Anna Keski-Rahkonen from the University of Helsinki's Department of Public Health, Prof. Christopher Fairburn, the Head of the Centre for Research on Eating Disorders at Univ of Oxford and Prof. Stephen Wonderlich, Neuropsychiatric Research Institute, Fargo, USA.

Professor Bryan Lask, President-Elect of the Eating Disorders Research Society and Head of Eating Disorders Research at The Huntercombe Group said, "We take great pleasure in hosting this informative event.
