NDCR 2009 by Dr. Daniel A. Hussar, the Remington professor of pharmacy at University of the Sciences' Philadelphia College of Pharmacy, provides a first-of-its-kind reference for pharmacists and healthcare practitioners.

Published by Moore Road Press, NDCR 2009 details the 158 drugs that have been marketed in the U.S. during the 2002-2008 period, and features comparisons to previously marketed drugs, specific advantages and disadvantages of each, and ratings for each new drug based on comparisons with related agents.

To provide an unbiased and comparative analysis of the new drugs marketed each year, Dr. Hussar uses the New Drug Comparison Rating (NDCR) system, a one-to-five point scale he created to succinctly rate a drug's importance based on comparisons with related agents.

Dr. Sarah M. Wieczorkiewicz, clinical assistant professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Pharmacy called NDCR 2009 "an invaluable reference for pharmacists," while Dr. Tim R. Dr. Hussar has written and spoken extensively on the topics of drug interactions, patient compliance, and new drugs. His publications include coverage of all the new therapeutic agents that have been marketed in the U.S. during the last 40 years. His papers on new drugs are published regularly in pharmacy and nursing journals and he speaks frequently on this topic to pharmacists, physicians, and nurses. He currently serves as author/editor of The Pharmacist Activist, a monthly newsletter, and previously served as chief pharmacy editor of Pharmacy Today. The awards and recognitions Dr. Hussar has received include the Distinguished Pharmacy Educator Award of the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy, the Hugo Schaefer Award of the American Pharmacists Association, and the Rho Chi Pharmacy Honor Society Lecture Award.
