The World Federation of Athletic Training and Therapy (WFATT) will host the 2009 World Congress in San Antonio, Texas, June 15-17, 2009. The forum is sponsored by the National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA) with the theme of "Global Perspectives in Athletic Health Care."

"We are excited to bring together leading sports medicine professionals throughout the world to address health issues relevant to active populations," said Catherine Ortega, PhD, ATC, president of WFATT. "This meeting gives us the opportunity to better understand these issues globally and to advance the athletic training profession."

The World Congress will discuss topics at the forefront of international sports medicine today, including emergency planning, functional rehabilitation and injury prevention. Acclaimed speakers from the United Kingdom, Spain, Japan, Taiwan, Canada and the United States, will present findings throughout the informative session.

The World Congress precedes NATA's annual meeting, and discounts are offered to non-members and students who sign up for both conferences. Non-members will receive a free NATA membership for the remainder of the year; the award-winning NATA News; and access to the Career Center and the Members Only section of the NATA Web site.
