"Texans want a world class cancer research and prevention program in Texas. Texans overwhelmingly supported Proposition 15 in November 2007. Now, with a world class team in place to run the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas, it is critical that state lawmakers do their part and ensure the institute receives all the dollars Texans approved in 2007. Fully funding the institute is a smart and responsible investment of state dollars. It improves both the health of Texans and the state's economy."

TMA is the largest state medical society in the nation, representing nearly 44,000 physician and medical student members. It is located in Austin and has 120 component county medical societies around the state. TMA's key objective since 1853 is to improve the health of all Texans.
