The Hemophilia Treatment Center (HTC) at Orthopaedic Hospital in Los Angeles is launching a new educational video podcast series available on the web site at http://www.hemophiliacenter.org. The HTC video podcasts are designed to build increased awareness for this disease and educate hemophilia patients on the latest care and treatment options.

Each year, hemophilia organizations come together in April to increase awareness and education of hemophilia and many other serious bleeding disorders. The HTC echoes the message of this year's World Federation of Hemophilia's "Together, We Care" campaign, focusing on providing patients comprehensive care by a team of specialists that enables people with hemophilia and other bleeding disorders to live a more active, healthier and happier life.

"Our team of multi-disciplinary specialists includes hematologists, orthopaedic surgeons, nurses, social workers, physical therapists and pharmacists providing treatment not just for patients' bleeding diseases, but also for their emotional, psychological, social, and educational needs," said Doris Quon, M.D., hematologist at the Hemophilia Treatment Center at Orthopaedic Hospital. "As part of our ongoing patient and family outreach, we are launching a series of educational video podcasts on our web site to further spread the word and educate others about these complex disorders."

The first video podcast features James V. Luck, Jr., M.D., president and CEO of Orthopaedic Hospital and chief of orthopaedics for the hospital's HTC. This will be followed by a new video segment each month and all video podcasts will be available in a searchable archive that can be seen online at http://www.hemophiliacenter.org.
