Daily exposure to toxins in the products we use for lifestyle convenience, such as plastics, adhesives, and insecticides, are creating a toxic load on our bodies contributing to chronic illnesses, mood disorders, allergies, and asthma. In light of increased awareness of our environmental exposures, Metametrix Clinical Laboratory announced the release of three new testing profiles in the Toxic Effects Profiles product line.

"We are excited to release these new testing profiles that evolved from our acquisition of Accu-Chem Laboratories," says Dr. J. Alexander Bralley, CEO of Metametrix Clinical Laboratory. "Due to our everyday exposure to environmental toxins and pollutants, toxicity is becoming a major concern to overall health. These new profiles help identify areas of toxic exposure to assist practitioners in adding detoxification protocols for their patient treatment plans."

These toxicity tests are beneficial for patients who have been exposed to toxic chemicals from various sources including work environments, toxic spills, and industrial land, air, and water pollutants. Additionally, those patients with unexplained chronic conditions may consider testing for toxic burden. The new profiles include:

-- AccuChem Chlorinated Pesticides Profile - This profile helps identify exposure to chlorinated pesticides, such as DDT, that were used heavily in the agriculture industry and do not degrade in the environment. These toxins can cause or complicate a broad range of illnesses including allergies, asthma, cardiovascular disease, and cancer.

-- AccuChem Polychlorinated Biphenyls (PCBs) Profile - Measuring six common PCBs, this profile helps identify exposure to PCBs that are shown to cause health problems associated with neurobehavioral and immune system development. Lubricants formally used in transformers, capacitors, and electronic equipment were made with PCBs. Though banned since the 1970s, PCBs linger in the environment and are consumed by humans through the food chain.

-- AccuChem Volatile Solvents Profile - The volatile solvents profile determines possible exposure to common solvents in our working and living environments such as adhesives, glues, paints, paint thinners, gasoline vapors, and many more. These toxins may also be the underlying cause of many illnesses such as diabetes, fibromyalgia, brain fog, and mood disorders, to name a few.

"It is no longer a question of if we are burdened by toxins. It is a question of how burdened we are and whether these toxins are keeping us from the health we desire," states Dr. Walter J. Crinnion. "Finding the burden and removing the sources of toxicity are the critical steps in the road to recovery of health."

For 25 years, Metametrix Clinical Laboratory has been an industry leader in producing innovative, Next Generation Technologies for measuring nutritional insufficiencies, metabolic dysfunction, and microbial imbalances, as well as toxic influences on health.
