Meet Dr Jonas Frisén, one of the most successful scientists within stem cell research, at an R&D session in the world's largest convention for biotech and pharmaceuticals, BIO 2009 in Atlanta, USA. The session is arranged by the Swedish medical university Karolinska Institutet, SwedenBIO and Invest in Sweden Agency.

Dr. Frisén will talk about stem cell research, currently one of the most exciting areas in science, and how it unravels potential new therapies for Parkinson's, Alzheimer's, spinal cord injury, stroke, heart diseases and other devastating diseases.

He is also the scientific founder of NeuroNova, a biopharmaceutical company, developing stem cell-based therapies for neurological disorders in the central nervous system. NeuroNova has two drug candidates in clinical development, one for Parkinson's disease and one for ALS.

The session will be chaired by Ceci Connolly, National Healthcare Reporter at Washington Post.
