TeleHealth Services, the nation's leading provider of healthcare grade televisions and on-demand patient and staff interactive education solutions, has announced the implementation of its TIGR on-demand video education and entertainment system into Timpanogos Regional Hospital in Orem, Utah.
Timpanogos recently expanded and renovated its facility, adding two new floors and 54,461 square feet to better meet the needs of the Orem community. The new space includes a 20 bed Intensive Care/Cardiac Care unit and 48 private medical, surgical and pediatric patient rooms. As part of the patient and family focused expansion, Timpanogos implemented an interactive patient education system based on a 12 year relationship with TeleHealth Services.
"It is our strategy to use technology to improve patient care and assist employees," said Sandy Ewell, Chief Clinical Officer of Timpanogos Regional Hospital. "We are encouraged by the possibilities that are now available with the TIGR system. Providing Timpanogos with this innovative technology will benefit the facility and enhance family and patient education. In addition to providing education, a patient can access our C.A.R.E Channel, which contains beautiful images and music to help with relaxation and pain management."
"We are extremely excited about this new addition to our facility," stated Ruthann Jarvis, Director of Education for Timpanogos. "Informing and empowering patients in the healthcare process through interactive on-demand education via our existing television system is an exciting technology. We are specifically pleased with the amount of content that we can upload onto the system, helping us provide our patients with a library of educational information."
The TIGR Interactive Patient Education System improves the patient experience by placing education at the patient's fingertips. With on-demand educational content, the TIGR interactive system empowers patients in the recovery process, delivering condition-specific education and hospital information, helping patients and families feel more comfortable during their hospital stay. A fully automated system, TIGR can be accessed from any computer in the hospital and nurses have the functionality to prescribe content to patients at any time.
"We are very pleased to continue our relationship with HCA through the implementation of TIGR at their Timpanogos facility," said Dan Nathan, VPGM of TeleHealth Services. "Using the TIGR system, Timpanogos will be able to achieve new levels of service excellence, patient satisfaction, quality outcomes and nursing efficiency. TeleHealth Services is committed to working with our many business partners to apply emerging technologies, such as interactive patient education solutions, to today's healthcare challenges. TeleHealth provides the training, infrastructure and financing services that enable our healthcare partners to deliver patient education and entertainment software to those hospitals focusing on enhanced patient safety and satisfaction."
