The overall aim of National Falls Awareness Day, held on the 23rd June 2009 is to raise awareness of the increased risk of falling as people age. Many of the products in Mountway's current extensive portfolio of independent living solutions can be used to aid with falls prevention.

Mountway's mobility range incorporates a selection of innovative, safe walkers to meet a variety of different users needs, including the Avant, an ergonomic 3-in-1 walking aid which incorporates a walker, perching stool and trolley in one unit. The Ono is a four-wheeled economic multipurpose walker, supplied with a basket and tray as standard. Easy to fold with one hand for storage purposes, the Ono also has handles specifically suitable for arthritic hands. For the shorter user, the Salsa is a lightweight and easy to handle walker. Also from Mountway's mobility range, the Tango is a compact, foldaway walker with cable-free braking supplied with a basket, tray and backrest as standard.

The Handybar®, one of the most popular car transfer aids, also available from Mountway, is a portable support handle that clamps easily to the 'u' shaped plate on a vehicle doorframe, offering extra support and leverage allowing a person to enter and exit vehicles more easily.

From the bathing range, Mountway offers a variety of grab rails such as the Suction Grab Rail which features two large suckers, that when engaged with a surface, form a vacuum tight seal to provide instant support and assistance. This eliminates the need for drilling holes, leaving surfaces intact. For situations when a secured rail is needed in one fixed place, the Handy Safety Grab Bar is available in three different lengths, in both a straight or angled shape. Its ergonomic design has hidden screws and features a soft ribbed surface which is easy to grip and reduces risk of slipping.

When accidently dropped, fallen walking sticks and crutches can present a trip hazard and a bending challenge, often leading to falls, but using the Snap-On can reduce the risk of this happening. The Snap-On is a magnetic device that attaches to a walking stick or crutch enabling it to be temporarily attached to a metal surface such as a fridge or a car door to prevent the crutch or stick from falling. When two crutches are required, the Snap-On crutch attachment is another magnetic device which enables the user to join the two crutches together before safely placing on a metal surface.
