Australian pharmaceutical companies are working closely with the Federal Government to ensure adequate supply of the normal seasonal influenza vaccine. Medicines Australia members are also manufacturing vaccines and providing approved anti-viral therapies for swine flu, where required.

Australian companies are also contributing to the global response by providing vaccine technology as well as anti-viral medicines. Medicines Australia represents Australian pharmaceutical companies on the Government's Health Infrastructure Assurance Advisory Group, whose primary role is to highlight specific issues that impact upon the safety and security of the health of the community, and to develop strategies for business continuity in the event of a health emergency.
