Springer, one of the leading publishers in the fields of science, technology and medicine, has signed a co-publishing agreement with the Association of Food Scientists and Technologists, India (AFST(I)), for one of their publications, the Journal of Food Science and Technology (JFST). Dr. Satish Kulkarni, Head of the Southern Campus at the National Dairy Research Institute in Bangalore and President of AFST(I); Dr. S.G. Prapulla, Deputy Director of the Central Food Technological Research Institute (CFTRI) in Mysore and Honorable Secretary of AFST(I); Dr. William F. Curtis, President of Springer Science+Business Media, LLC; and Sanjiv Goswami, Managing Director of Springer India, signed the agreement at the Southern Campus at the National Dairy Research Institute in Bangalore.
The Journal of Food Science and Technology, the only peer-reviewed Indian R&D journal in the field of food and nutrition, has been published by AFST(I) for the last 46 years and is increasing in importance as reflected in its rising impact factor. It provides opportunities for scientists, researchers and other food professionals to share knowledge through its highly respected journal articles.
"We are very excited about this agreement and look forward to a successful association with Springer," said Dr. Satish Kulkarni, Head of the Southern Campus at the National Dairy Research Institute in Bangalore and President of AFST(I).
Dr. S.G. Prapulla, Deputy Director of CFTRI said, "This is a turning point in the history of AFST(I). It will widen the scope of the journal and enhance its presence globally."
Dr. N.S. Mahendrakar, Editor-in-Chief of JFST, said, "Since its inception, JFST has been a source of pride for our society. We are extremely happy to enter into this co-publication agreement with Springer. I look forward to a very fruitful and long-lasting relationship."
"Springer is proud to cooperate with the AFST(I), and is delighted to welcome the prestigious Journal of Food Science and Technology to its portfolio. We anticipate that this agreement will significantly benefit scholars and researchers in food science around the world. The authors and readers will certainly benefit from Springer's global presence and our online platform, SpringerLink," said Sanjiv Goswami, Managing Director of Springer India.
JFST will be published both electronically and in print. The journal will include Cross Reference Linking, alert services, and Online First™, a feature by which articles are published online before they appear in print. Springer will also implement the online author submission system, Editorial Manager. This system allows the peer-review process to be handled faster, resulting in the speedy publication of the articles.
