Springer, one of the leading publishers in the field of science, technology and medicine, has signed a cooperation agreement with the Federation of Obstetric and Gynaecological Societies of India (FOGSI) to publish The Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology of India (JOGI).
Dr. C.N. Purandare, President of FOGSI; Dr. Adi E. Dastur, editor of the Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology of India; Dr. C.V. Hedge, Secretary and Manager of FOGSI; Dr. William F. Curtis, President, Springer Science+Business Media, LLC; and Sanjiv Goswami, Managing Director, Springer India, signed the agreement at the FOGSI office in Mumbai.
The Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology of India is the oldest specialty journal in India, founded in 1950 by Dr. J. Jhirad, editor of the inaugural issue. The official publication of FOGSI, it has the highest circulation amongst all specialty medical journals in India. Besides providing a platform for research workers and clinicians to publish their scientific work, it provides readers updated information and developments in obstetrics and gynecology and related specialties. It also publishes information about the various activities of FOGSI.
Dr. Dastur, Editor of JOGI, said, "The Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology of India reflects India's march into the 21st century with a plethora of articles on all the recent advances in obstetrics and gynecology worldwide. We are happy to partner with Springer, who will help us to achieve our goals, and look forward to a long and successful association with this international publisher."
"JOGI is regarded as the largest circulation medical journal in India with 24,000 physicians receiving the bimonthly issues. This journal is a significant advance in Springer India's clinical medicine publishing program," said Dr. William F. Curtis, President, Springer Science+Business Media, LLC.
"We hope this association will expand not only the global readership but also readership within India. Greater visibility of the journal through SpringerLink, Springer's online platform, will help Indian practitioners of obstetrics and gynecology to reach out to their global community," said Sanjiv Goswami, Managing Director at Springer India.
JOGI will be published both electronically and in print. The journal will include Cross Reference Linking, alert services, and Online First™, a feature by which articles are published online before they appear in print. Springer will also implement the online author submission system, Editorial Manager. This system allows the peer-review process to be handled faster, resulting in the speedy publication of the articles.
