Elsevier announced that the Journal of Foot & Ankle Surgery (JFAS), the Official Journal of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons (http://www.acfas.org), has been accepted for coverage by multiple Thomson Reuters abstracting and indexing services, including Journal Citation Reports®.
"The American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons is extremely pleased that the Journal of Foot & Ankle Surgery has been selected for abstracting and indexing by Thomson Reuters," commented Editor D. Scot Malay, DPM, MSCE, FACFAS. "This coverage and the assignment of an Impact Factor will help to further increase dissemination of the journal's content throughout the healthcare community and support our mission of advancing practitioner competency and enhancing patient care."
Abstracting and indexing will begin with Volume 47:1 (2008) in Science Citation Index Expanded (also known as SciSearch®), Current Contents®/Clinical Medicine and Journal Citation Reports/Science Edition. The first Impact Factor, a widely accepted indicator of a journal's significance within its field, will be issued by Thomson Reuters in 2010. The Journal is already indexed in MEDLINE®, PubMed, Scopus®, CINAHL® (Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature), EMBASE and BIOSIS.
The Journal of Foot & Ankle Surgery is the leading source for original, clinically-focused articles on the surgical and medical management of the foot and ankle. Each bi-monthly, peer-reviewed issue addresses relevant topics to the profession, such as: adult reconstruction of the forefoot; adult reconstruction of the hindfoot and ankle; diabetes; medicine/rheumatology; pediatrics; research; sports medicine; trauma; and tumors/pathology.
"Coverage by Thomson Reuters not only speaks to the quality and significance of the Journal's editorial content, but also acknowledges the continuing efforts of the highly-respected editors, authors, reviewers and the Society. We at Elsevier would like to thank them all for their contributions to this excellent achievement," stated Elsevier's Chris Baumle, publisher of the Journal of Foot & Ankle Surgery.
