Tokyo (JCNN) - Lion (TSE: 4912) has announced that it has developed HitecSilica, a minute particle about 10nm in diameter which helps effectively alleviate reactions to pollen allergy.

HitecSilica is coated with inorganic oxide film. While the silica is attached onto the surface of pollen, the oxide breaks the structure of the surface, which is proven very effective in preventing pollen from "bursting" to release allergen from inside to cause hay fever.

Lion has developed a spray for clothes utilizing this silica technology as well. The company is applying for six patents regarding this technology.
