Honors Bestowed Upon Distinguished Members Of Pharmacy Community At NACDS Pharmacy & Technology Conference

The National Association of Chain Drug Stores (NACDS) honored three industry leaders at the 2009 Pharmacy & Technology Conference this week. The awards were accompanied by generous contributions to the NACDS Foundation from several distinguished companies:
Fougera Pharmacy Scholarship Award
Andy Giancamilli, Chief Executive Officer, North America, Snyders Drug Stores, Inc. and Chairman, NACDS Board of Directors
Fougera General Manager and Nycomed Senior Vice President, David Klaum presented this award to NACDS Chairman of the Board Andy Giancamilli. In Giancamilli's honor, Fougera has made a contribution of $25,000 to the NACDS Foundation Pharmacy Student Scholarship Program to support the development of future leaders in pharmacy and to recognize pharmacy students who have a strong interest in pursuing a career in community pharmacy.
IMS HEALTH Pharmacy Partnership Award
Bill Wolfe, Rite Aid Corporation
James J. Hunter of IMS HEALTH presented the Pharmacy Partnership Award to this year's recipient, Bill Wolfe, Group Vice President, Managed Care and Government Affairs for Rite Aid Corporation. A contribution of $10,000 was presented in Wolfe's honor to the NACDS Foundation. This award honors an individual or group that values the importance of data in fact-based communications and corporate planning. Wolfe is responsible for oversight of the pharmacy benefit management division, Rite Aid Health Solutions and for the maintenance and development of relationships with state and federal regulatory agencies, policymakers and legislators.
Novartis Pharmaceutical Alliance Award
Dennis Wiesner, R.Ph., CIPP, H-E-B
Michael Conley of Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corporation presented the Novartis Pharmaceutical Alliance Award to Dennis Wiesner, R.Ph., CIPP, who serves as Senior Director, Privacy, Pharmacy and Government for H-E-B, and is the 2009 Pharmacy & Technology Conference Chairman. This award is presented in recognition of leadership, commitment and service to the chain pharmacy industry. Wiesner currently serves on the NACDS Policy Council, the Texas State Board of Pharmacy, and is an active member of the Texas Federation of Drug Stores. Accompanying the award, a $10,000 contribution was donated by Novartis Pharmaceuticals to the NACDS Foundation in Wiesner's name.
