The 1994 Group are among a growing number of partners who are supporting a series of 7 specialist training days at the British Library for new postgraduates. The 1994 Group are providing travel bursaries to help ensure the scheme is accessible to research postgraduates across the UK.
Paul Marshall, Executive Director of the 1994 Group said:
"If the UK is to continue to be a world leader in research, we have to see a greater emphasis on supporting, training and developing new researchers. The 1994 Group is committed to encouraging more students to pursue postgraduate study and to supporting early stage researchers to develop their skills. We are delighted to be supporting the British Library's excellent series of National Postgraduate Training Days and hope that our support will allow more students from 1994 Group universities across the UK to attend and develop their skills."
Dr Joanna Newman, Head of Higher Education at the British Library said:
"The UK's future research strength depends on the development of researchers themselves. Highly skilled people are essential both for the future academic workforce and for the innovative industries that will drive forward our post-recession economy. Our National Postgraduate Training Days are targeted at providing specialist support for new postgraduate researchers and we're delighted that the 1994 Group are a partner for our series of events."
These specially tailored days combine a general introduction to the British Library with specialist sessions on material specific to the subject and discipline of the day. Each day will give students the opportunity to meet our curators, network with fellow researchers and discover ways the Library can help in their research careers.
