In light of the upcoming 7th Global Conference on Health Promotion to be held next month in Nairobi, Kenya, WHO country representative David Okello on Wednesday called upon government leaders to work faster to implement the policies needed to reduce the country's health burden, the Daily Nation reports. "For far too long, we have developed health guidelines that end up not being fully implemented," Okello said. According to the Daily Nation, "Okello said it was time to identify ways of speeding the implementation process instead of coming up with new policy documents."

James Gesami, public health and sanitation assistant minister, "called on African diplomats based in Nairobi to push for their countries' full participation," the newspaper writes. "This is an opportunity for us to harness political leadership in the promotion of health issues in the country and beyond," Gesami said (Cheboi, 9/9).
