SAGE is partnering with the International Cartilage Repair Society (ICRS) to launch Cartilage in 2010. A peer-reviewed quarterly journal, Cartilage will be a forum for the exchange of ideas for the many types of researchers and clinicians involved in cartilage biology and repair.

The official journal of the ICRS, Cartilage is edited by Roy D. Altman, M.D., UCLA Professor of Medicine, and will focus on both clinical and basic scientific perspectives in cartilage research and repair.

"A primary objective of Cartilage is to foster the cross-fertilization of the findings between clinical and basic sciences throughout the various disciplines involved in cartilage repair," said Altman. "We envision it to be a key medium for the exchange of knowledge among all those who are involved in this area of medicine."

The journal will publish full-length original manuscripts on all types of cartilage, including: articular, tracheal/bronchial, nasal, auricular, and intervertebral disc fibrocartilage, as well as on clinical and laboratory research. Review articles, editorials, and letters will also be included.

"We're very pleased to partner with the ICRS to launch Cartilage and bring it to the growing list of SAGE orthopedic research titles," said Jayne Marks, SAGE Vice-President and Editorial Director, Journals. "This new journal will make an important contribution to the field by bringing together scholars from around the world and facilitating the broad dissemination of research on cartilage biology and repair."

Cartilage will be published quarterly by SAGE on behalf of the ICRS beginning in January 2010. Members of the ICRS receive the journal as a benefit of membership. More information about the new journal can be found at http://cart.sagepub.com.

Cartilage aims to bridge a gap in the literature by focusing on both clinical and basic science perspectives of the diverse disciplines in cartilage research and repair. Publishing articles on cartilage biology, including repair, development, function, and transplantation, Cartilage is a forum for the exchange of ideas for the many types of researchers and clinicians involved in cartilage work. It is the official journal of the International Cartilage Repair Society (ICRS).
