The American Association for Cancer Research will hold its first conference devoted solely to basic science from Oct. 8-11, 2009, when it gathers for the Frontiers in Basic Cancer Research Meeting in Boston.

The conference will include presentations from past and future AACR Presidents as well as other leading scientists on high priority topics such as epigenetics, targeted small molecules, systems biology and metastasis.

The AACR Office of Communications and Public Relations will be staffing a full press room with the following opportunities for the media:

- An educational conference on the latest in metastasis featuring Tyler Jacks, Ph.D., Joan Massagué, Ph.D., and Robert Weinberg, Ph.D.

- A press conference detailing how some of the latest basic science findings may have direct impact on patient care.

- News from the international scientific community, including a report from India on the human papillomavirus and from Saudi Arabia on leptin and thyroid cancer.
