Minister Aglukkaq Announces Appointment To The Canadian Institutes Of Health Research Governing Council

The Honourable Leona Aglukkaq, Minister of Health, announced the appointment of Dr. Bernard Prigent to the Governing Council of the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) for a three-year term.

"Dr. Prigent brings extensive pharmaceutical research industry experience to CIHR's Governing Council," said Minister Aglukkaq. "His understanding of research and development partnerships will be a valuable asset."

Dr. Bernard Prigent is Vice President and Medical Director of Pfizer Canada. He has worked on the clinical development and commercialization of new medicines in a variety of therapeutic areas, including cardiology, respiratory medicine, infectious disease, rheumatology, urology, neurology and oncology.

He holds an MD from the Faculté de médecine Xavier-Bichat, Paris VII de l'Université de Paris and an MBA from Henley Business School at the University of Reading in the UK.
