Medical Students To Be Offered Management Training, UK

Medical students are to be offered management training under a new scheme launched by The British Association of Medical Managers (BAMM).

BAMMdot will train students who are interested in management careers and structures within the health service, through Begin To Lead - a junior spin-off from BAMM's acclaimed Fit To Lead training programme, which will be organised to fit around students' existing academic commitments.

One of the first schemes of its kind in the UK, BAMMdot "Doctors of Tomorrow" was launched in response to growing demand from medical students who are interested in developing both their leadership skills and knowledge of medical management structures.

Both the current national debate about NHS funding and the approach of revalidation have led to increasing interest in management procedures and growing curiosity about careers within medical management. BAMMdot has already seen interest from medical students at various colleges throughout the UK.

BAMMdot members will also receive advice, invaluable networking opportunities, regular policy updates and documents of interest. Students will be able to join for £15+VAT per year.

Professor Jenny Simpson OBE, Chief Executive of BAMM, said: "With public interest in the management of the NHS at an all-time high, we've seen an increase in interest from medical students who are keen to learn about medical management and pursue careers in clinical leadership."
