The European Association of Urology (EAU) and Europa Uomo, the European advocacy movement for the fight against prostate cancer, have entered into an affiliated partnership as part of their long-term commitment to increase and improve patient awareness in Europe with regards to urological diseases.
Professor Per-Anders Abrahamsson, Secretary-General of the EAU: "Thanks to this unique EAU affiliated partnership, Europa Uomo will gain access to the latest information on optimum surgical and medical treatment in the field of urology. It will enable the organisation to keep its members up-to-date."
"Europa Uomo will definitely contribute to maximum exposure of EAU events among its members. We will be present as organisation at these events to obtain all the information we need and inform urology professionals about the needs of the prostate cancer patients. Both sides, urologists and patients, benefit", says Professor Louis Denis, Secretary of Europa Uomo.
It is the first time that the EAU is entering into an affiliated partnership with a patient organisation. Both partners are expected to support each other's goals, objectives and activities, although they are not part of the organisational structure of the partner organisation. "Ultimately, we strive toward a common goal: to raise the level of urological care in Europe. We can definitely help each other, for instance by exchanging information", says Abrahamsson.
The EAU's Central Office will provide assistance to Europa Uomo in terms of advice on external relations/public affairs and communication activities. On the other hand, Europa Uomo plans to organise a patient session at the Annual Congress of the EAU.
