LACTAID® brings tidings of dairy comfort and joy to the millions of Americans who are lactose intolerant, with the launch of its new LACTAID® Eggnog, the only lactose-free eggnog now regionally available in the Northeast. This 100 percent lactose-free version of the traditional beverage is available now through the end of 2004, allowing everyone to savor a sip of the holiday spirit this year.

For many of us, the holidays just wouldn't be complete without a glass of Eggnog. But for those who suffer from lactose intolerance, meaning that they have difficulty digesting the milk sugars found in dairy, the creamy beverage has been off limits in past celebratory seasons. This year, LACTAID® Brand is introducing a new lactose-free Eggnog so that those who are lactose intolerant can indulge in their craving for this dairy treat without experiencing any of the unpleasant side effects.

The new LACTAID® Eggnog, the only dairy-based lactose-free Eggnog available, uses a traditional recipe, but simply adds the lactase enzyme that breaks down the milk sugar, lactose, that may cause unpleasant symptoms. Made from real milk and real cream, LACTAID® Eggnog is a delicious alternative for those who are lactose intolerant.

"This is the first year that I don't have to miss out on the annual holiday toast," said actress, director and LACTAID® brand spokesperson Joanna Kerns. "Now I can enjoy one of my favorite beverages without the discomfort. And because it tastes the same as the regular version, I can keep the LACTAID® Eggnog on hand for all of my holiday entertaining and my friends and family won't even know the difference."

Considering that 15 to 20 percent of the U.S. population is lactose intolerant1, chances are that a friend or relative visiting for the holidays may have this condition. Stocking up on LACTAID® Eggnog ensures that there is something for everyone at your table this season.

And for those who are dining out this season - whether it's a holiday brunch or New Year's Eve dinner - be sure to bring along LACTAID® Dietary Supplements which contain a natural enzyme to make dairy foods easier to digest. Taken with the first bite of dairy, LACTAID® Dietary Supplements help prevent symptoms before they can begin.

LACTAID® Eggnog will be available at select Roche Brothers, Shaws, Victory, Foodmaster, Stop & Shop and Demoulas supermarkets during the holidays.

Lactose intolerant - Health Living

posted by Anthony on 27 May 2011 at 8:44 am

First of all, thank you LACTAID for thinking of people like me who can't have a glass of strawberry milk or a bowl of ice cream.

It sounds silly, but it is really hard to shop at a "normal" grocery store. You should be glad and thankful that you are healthy and have no medical predisposition. It has been really hard since I found out that I was lactose intolerant in 2009. However, today my wife (poor woman) and I have adjusted well. For example, I have to browse the internet constantly to find "lactose free" recipes in order to improve our lives. Recipes that a healthy person would also enjoy eating. Like chocolate pudding or a cookie. In fact, I just found this one the other day: http://www.yourmesotheliomalawfirm.com/blog/lactose-free-chocolate-pudding/

My wife made it for us and it is delicious. Most surprisingly, I found it at a mesothelioma website.

Wishing you a good lactose-free life.

Anthony
