Pathway Genomics™, a privately held, venture-backed company, today launched a new campaign designed to facilitate discussions around consumer genetic testing services. Called 'DNA Conversation Starters,' Pathway will address a range of topics about genetic testing, further educating members of the media, the genetic testing community, and consumers about the benefits of genetic testing services and the depth of information obtained from Pathway's Genetic Health and Ancestry tests. DNA Conversation Starters will be available on Pathway's web site and posted to Pathway's blog, DNAction: Your Pathway to Human Genomics (blog.PATHWAY.com).
"For many people the idea of genetic testing is still misunderstood," said Linda Wasserman, Ph.D., head of Pathway's genetic counseling team. "We typically receive questions as basic as: What is genetic testing? Why is this information important? And what does this information really mean? With the debut of our Conversation Starters we can help people more clearly understand the importance of genetic testing services, rule out common myths about genetic testing, and offer insight on what genetic tests results can and cannot tell you."
Pathway's DNA Conversation Starters will address a variety of topics linked to genetics. This includes women's health, cancer, heart disease, asthma, men's health, and nutrition. Other common questions about genetics will be answered such as: What is personal genetic testing? What should I do with my genetic test results? How do my genes play a role in my response to prescription medications? Why should I take a personal genetic test? For more information on Pathway's DNA Conversation Starters, visit Pathway's blog, DNAction (blog.PATHWAY.com) or contact feedback@pathway.com.
