The Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain is delighted to announce the appointment of Nina Barnett who will take up a one year secondment working on projects within the Professional Development and Support team, in a consultancy role. This will be an important part of the Society's move towards becoming a dedicated professional leadership body.
Nina brings with her 22 years of experience in pharmacy practice in a variety of settings. Her new position, which begins on February 1, will involve providing professional support to pharmacists at all stages of their careers.
Nina says; "I'm really excited about my new role. The shift at the Society to professional leadership and support is a unique opportunity to engage with individuals, employers and other organisations in the development of career structures for pharmacists."
"I look forward to working with members at various points in their working lives from those considering a career in pharmacy to established pharmacists and those returning to practice. It is my aim to offer members a career progression which we are all proud to sign up to and to also showcase experts in the field."
Nina is no stranger to career advancement having taught pre-registration graduates and pharmacists as well as lectured and tutored the MSc/diploma in pharmacy practice at the London School of Pharmacy, Kings College London, and Brighton.
She is also an independent prescriber, has been published in various international journals, and became the first Consultant Pharmacist for Older People in England in 2007. Nina was heavily involved in the production of a curriculum, endorsed by the British Geriatrics Society, for higher level practice for pharmacists working with older people.
RPSGB Chief Executive and Registrar Jeremy Holmes says; "We are delighted to have gained someone with the extensive career in professional development that Nina has."
"I'm sure our members will benefit from her work to support their development needs and career enhancement. Together with Catherine Duggan, Carol Evans and the rest of the team, we are building a first class development and support service from the new Society."
