Research Proves derma e(R)'s Super-Antioxidants More Powerful Than Vitamins C & E; Currently Only One Company Incorporates Both, Many Soon to Follow -

While boomers spend billions to rescue their skin from signs of age, their efforts might be better-spent harvesting micro-algae off the coast of Hawaii or pine bark from the forests of France, scientists say. That's because researchers have just released two new anti-oxidants: derma e(R)'s Astazanthin(R) (derived from micro-algae) and Pycnogenol(R) (from pine bark) that are proven to be much more powerful than the traditional anti-oxidants found in Vitamins C and E and currently used in many anti-aging products. Consumers can expect to see these new anti-oxidants in a growing number of products in the near future. At the present time however, only one product group, derma e(R)'s Ultimate Age-Defying Formulas, made by the Simi Valley-based natural bodycare company, has incorporated them.

"We now have studies showing that Astazanthin(R) is 500 times more powerful than Vitamin E, and Pycnogenol(R) is 50 times more powerful than Vitamin E and 20 times more powerful than Vitamin C. As soon as we saw the research, we were the first to get these to the consumer," says Linda Miles, DOM, Vice President of derma e(R), whose company has developed formulas for a day creme, night creme, eye creme and hydrating masque that contain significant amounts of both super-antioxidants. "Astazanthin(R) and Pycnogenol(R) are by far the best ingredients for the skin that we know of at this time."

According to Dr. Dustin Sienna, Astazanthin(R) and Pycnogenol(R) have more "super-powers" than just neutralizing free radicals. "They're both very anti-inflammatory, which helps the skin fight off stress and generally keeps it from 'acting up' in the wrong ways," says Sienna. "They increase the skin's defensive cells' activity, help maintain a healthier structure and look to the skin, and fight a host of challenges linked to inflammation such as under-eye puffiness, blemishes and Rosacea."

Buyers are warned to be cautious so they don't pay too much - or don't get what they paid for. "Skin care products don't have to be expensive to work, but they need to contain significant amounts - rather than just token amounts - of the active ingredients," says Miles. "Consumers need to research companies to make sure they offer high-potency formulas. Natural rather than synthetic formulas are also generally better. They're healthier for your skin and often contain more of the active ingredients you need to be able to see and feel a difference in your skin."

For over two decades, derma e(R) has pioneered the development of high- performance natural solutions with the power to protect, heal and renew skin and hair. The comprehensive derma e(R) line of fine natural bodycare products includes over 60 SKUs and can be found in over 5000 retail outlets nationwide, with additional distribution internationally and on http://www.dermae.net.
