The Washington Times examines how pregnancies among older women often are possible only with the use of donor eggs. Although nearly one-quarter of women in the United States are older than 35 when they give birth to their first child, a woman's chance of getting and staying pregnant -- even with the help of assisted reproductive technology -- and delivering a healthy infant is much lower at age 40 than at age 30, according to the Times. However, such difficulties often are obscured by reports of pregnancies among older celebrities, the Times reports (Goldberg Goff [1], Washington Times, 3/27). The Times on Sunday also examined common myths about pregnancy later in life (Goldberg Goff [2], Washington Times, 3/27). The complete articles are available online.
