Fuji Keizai Forecasts Japan's Anticancer Market to Reach 415 billion Yen ($8.9 bil) in 2006

Tokyo (JCNN) - Japanese market researcher Fuji Keizai announced on April 4 that it has published a report on the Japanese ethical drug market. The 226-page report covers six segments: anticancer agents, nutritional supplements, anesthetic/muscle relaxants, immunosuppressants, in vivo diagnostics, and disinfectants.
The domestic market for these six segments reached 955.6 billion yen ($8.9 bil) in 2004, and is expected to reach 996 billion yen ($9.3 bil) in 2006.
By segment, the anticancer agent sector will grow from 461.8 billion yen ($4.3 bil) in 2004 to 503.5 billion yen ($4.7 bil) in 2006; the anesthetic/muscle relaxant sector will expand from 50.5 billion yen ($472.0 mil) to 51.1 billion yen ($477.6 mil); the immunosuppressant sector will rise from 34.7 billion yen ($324.3 mil) to 39 billion yen ($364.5 mil).
