Florida Governor Jeb Bush (R) on Wednesday signed a bill to allow low-income families to enroll children in... KidCare, the state's child health insurance program, throughout the year, the AP/Florida Times-Union reports (Royse, AP/Florida Times-Union, 6/1). The law reverses a 2004 change to the program that limited enrollment to two months annually. Florida held the first KidCare enrollment period of 2005 in January and was planning to hold a second enrollment period in September before the legislation became law. Enrollment in KidCare decreased from about 350,000 last year to 239,000 children in April (Kaiser Daily Health Policy Report, 4/11).
