Minister of Health of Iraq welcomes international co-operation to boost sector growth

"Iraqi health industry has witnessed a great revival and steady growth which has enabled country to improve in many sectors as testified by WHO report about efficiency in healthcare services delivery. The Ministry of Health has made a great effort to develop healthcare services where long-term plans have been set to provide health needs to Iraqi citizens. Additionally, many new mega projects have been announced to meet the growing demand of healthcare services and provide a strong infrastructure that serves as a foundation for the growing health sector in Iraq," said HE Dr Majeed Hamad Amin, the Minister of Health of Iraq.

Ministry of Health Iraq is co-organising the 2nd Iraq Health Summit on March 10th and 11th 2014 in Iraq, in partnership with French business facilitation group naseba. The summit is gathering Ministry of Health officials and top Iraqi sector leaders with international medical providers and renowned experts.

In a letter addressing the public, HE the Minister of Health marked international co-operation as a key to progress of healthcare in Iraq: "Ministry of Health would like to invite the private sector to contribute to the process of developing and improving the health sector. The private sector plays an integral role in the process, and it would be mutually beneficial for both parties as Iraq has great investment opportunities. We are looking to open doors to professionals and build bridges of co-operation between international and local stakeholders to support government initiatives and plans to improve healthcare services in Iraq."

During the 2 days, attendees will discuss future projects and strategies for sector growth and development. Medical solution providers will have a chance to directly discuss mutual partnerships with Ministry officials and hospital executives during commercially focused business meetings.

"As co-organiser of the 2nd Iraq Health Summit, our objective is to highlight the future of healthcare sector in Iraq, and create a platform to exchange knowledge and expertise in all areas of healthcare. We will discuss challenges facing the health sector and how to achieve excellence in healthcare services. This initiative is in line with our vision to serve the development of the healthcare sector with sustainable development of both society and nations. Finally, our participation in this summit comes under the concern about creating real progress to be able to compete with developed countries in healthcare. The development and improvement we are witnessing today in Iraq make us very proud. Self-sufficiency will help us attain what other countries have achieved in the health sector," concluded Dr Majeed Hamad Amin.
