Primary care leaders in Nottinghamshire, UK, have launched a new DVD promoting the county as the place to live and work in the NHS.
The six and a half minutes film focuses on the diversity of Nottinghamshire including its rural and urban areas, transport links, schools, housing, entertainment and leisure.
The project is the work of the Nottinghamshire Teaching PCT, on behalf of its member primary care trusts - Ashfield, Broxtowe and Hucknall, Gedling, Mansfield District, Newark and Sherwood, Nottingham City and Rushcliffe PCTs.
The Nottinghamshire tPCT is working across the county to enhance recruitment and retention of all health care staff, including managers and administrative staff.
Head of Nottinghamshire tPCT Sue Hepworth said: "The purpose of this project was to produce a short film promoting Nottinghamshire as an attractive place to live and work in order to stimulate interest from healthcare workers, both clinical and non-clinical, to work in Nottinghamshire and ultimately within the PCTs.
"The objectives were to increase the number of people applying for job opportunities that currently reside outside of Nottinghamshire area and to encourage people to relocate to the area, thereby increasing the number of potential candidates available to become employed within our member PCTs.
Craig Kershaw, the tPCT Host Director and Ashfield and Mansfield District PCTs' Director of Workforce and Organisational Development, said: "The DVD will be an invaluable tool in attracting candidates from outside Nottinghamshire, particularly primary care professionals at conferences and graduate recruitment fairs.
"The staff of tPCT have put a lot of hard work into this project and I welcome the DVD's launch," he said
After securing teaching pct status in April 2004, Nottinghamshire tPCT was officially launched in June of that year and has since gone on to ratify a strategy for 2005 to 2008.
Several projects are underway, two of which are completed. These include the DVD, and the development of a Project Management Toolkit which aims to provide a standardised approach to project management across our member PCTs. Other projects include the roll out of a Practice Nurse Apprenticeship Scheme across Nottinghamshire following the successful implementation at Rushcliffe PCT.
