Rush University Medical Center is offering a free seminar on the latest innovative treatments to treat epilepsy. "Treating Epilepsy: Options That Could Improve Your Life" will be offered from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, October 8 in Room 994, Armour Academic Center, Rush University Medical Center, 600 South Paulina Street, Chicago.

Many people get good results from seizure-preventing medications, but for others the standard treatment is not enough. Two recognized experts, Dr. Richard W. Byrne, director of the Chicago Institute of Neurosurgery and Neuroresearch surgical epilepsy program, and Dr. Michael C. Smith, director of the Rush Epilepsy Center, will discuss new diagnostic testing, new medications, and the success and safety of surgical options and treatments. In addition, a patient of the Rush Epilepsy Center will share her personal experience with finding successful epilepsy treatments.

Rush University Medical Center is home to one of the most experienced epilepsy programs in the country. The program offers comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services, and provides patients with a full range of medical and surgical treatment options, including investigative therapies and approaches that are not widely available. Patients who require inpatient treatment receive care on a specialized neurological unit.

Free parking for the program is available at the visitor/patient garage adjacent to the hospital on Harrison Street. Advanced registration is requested. Please call 1-888-352-RUSH.
