As part of his 2006 State of the Union Address, President Bush reaffirmed his commitment to providing Americans with electronic medical records by stating that the government "will make wider use of electronic medical records and other health information technology to help control costs and reduce dangerous medical errors."

Throughout the address, the President also emphasized the theme of "Keeping America Competitive." By meeting the challenge of rising healthcare costs, a network of Electronic Personal Health Records can help the nation be more competitive since healthcare represents one of the biggest costs to business and industry.

MyMedicalRecords.com is helping meet the President's challenge of reducing healthcare costs with an answer that gives every American the opportunity to be in control of their own medical future using readily available technology without the need for any special hardware or software.

"In order to keep America competitive, this nation needs to reduce its medical costs," said Robert H. Lorsch, chairman and chief executive officer of MyMedicalRecords.com. "Experts in healthcare are unanimous in their belief that if every American had an electronic patient health record we would cut medical costs by nearly 100 billion dollars annually, reduce medical errors and save lives. As a result, productivity would be increased and the country would be more competitive. Keeping Americans healthy would increase profitability in the private sector, lower government spending, reduce taxes and ultimately enable this nation to be more competitive in world markets."

According to Lorsch, MyMedicalRecords.com allows an individual to have an electronic personal health record of any document or image that a patient would find in the manila file folders at their doctor's offices, including lab results, prescriptions, X-rays, scans and ultrasounds. Adding documents to a patient's MyMedicalRecords.com file is as easy as faxing them to a personal "Lifeline" toll-free phone number or uploading them from a computer. Faxed documents are automatically digitized, encrypted and converted into an unalterable PDF image where they are stored in the subscriber's personal account. Subscribers are then notified via e-mail, text message or pager and can conveniently use their Lifeline number and a password to gain secure access to their account.

"MyMedicalRecords.com answers the President's call today with the only online service that allows every American to store their existing medical history in a virtual format online and keep it up to date with technologies that are available to almost every home office or business in the country today -- a fax machine, a computer and a free Adobe reader," Lorsch said.

The MyMedicalRecords.com system is as secure as those used by the world's largest financial institutions and exceed HIPAA security guidelines. All user records are encrypted, locked and accessible only to the user and those they authorize with their user ID and password, such as family and emergency personnel. Sensitive financial and personal information can be stored in a separate folder that is protected by a secondary password for added security.
