This year's National Infertility Day (NID) conference will take place on 10th June 2006 at The New Connaught Rooms in central London.
Our Keynote speaker this year is Dame Suzi Leather, Chair of the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority. Dari Taylor MP, Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Infertility will give a plenary lecture and a distinguished list of over 30 other speakers will deliver the talks on subjects ranging from medical areas such as donor issues, male and female infertility and new developments, right through to exploring related topics like nutrition, hypnotherapy, adoption, surrogacy and much more. There will also be a session on Facing a Life Without Children.
The event will host a comprehensive exhibition where delegates can gather information from a wide variety of exhibitors, including Clinics, Patient Organisations, Pharmaceutical companies, Medical Supply Companies, Complementary Therapists and many more.
National Infertility Day takes place during World Fertility Awareness Month, and will bring together infertility patient associations, health professionals and patients in what is the largest, most comprehensive conference in the infertility calendar. This event will help raise awareness and stimulate debate on many subjects related to the illness.
The objectives of NID are:
-- To raise awareness of infertility and the support which is available at every level
-- To provide information on infertility to patients
-- To be educational for: patients; journalists; the public; health purchasers, as well as those working in the field of infertility
-- To show a true partnership of all organisations and individuals working towards helping those suffering from infertility, in the way that best suits each individuals needs.
Clare Brown, Chief Executive of Infertility Network UK and Chair of the Organising Committee of National Infertility Day said: "The emotional and physical impact of infertility should never be underestimated. National Infertility Day provides infertility sufferers, their friends and family with an opportunity to discuss the issues and to find out about current treatment and new technology in a relaxed atmosphere."

About Infertility Network UK (I N UK)
I N UK is the largest network in the UK for those experiencing fertility problems, offering face to face and telephonic support and information at Regional and National level.
Members comprise mainly of couples undergoing infertility treatments, those who have faced infertility in the past, and continue to support I N UK. Those who have gone on to face a life without children receive support from our More to Life branch. Many professional organisations and individuals from within the infertility spectrum also support us.
Infertility affects a staggering one in six couples in the UK. The chances are that most people will know someone who has had, or is having fertility problems. Infertility is an illness that can often be successfully treated, but is one which brings with it, very real emotional distress and even today is widely underestimated in terms of it's effects on a couple. There is for some, still a stigma attached to this illness because of the very nature of it.
