A Food and Drug Administration (FDA) official will address pain medicine physicians' concerns about the FDA's stance on new pain therapies in the pipeline at the American Academy of Pain Medicine's (AAPM) 22nd Annual Meeting at the Manchester Grand Hyatt in San Diego, Calif., February 22 â€" 25, 2006.
Scott Gottlieb, MD, Deputy Commissioner for Medical and Scientific Affairs at the FDA, will speak on Thursday, Feb. 23, 2006, from 11:15 a.m. â€" noon.

AAPM is the medical specialty society representing physicians practicing in the field of pain medicine. The Academy is involved in education, training, advocacy and research in the specialty of pain medicine.
The 22nd annual meeting offers a selection of educational opportunities in pain medicine. Approximately 1,000 people are expected to attend the meeting.
