Expert speakers from the world of health and medical informatics will take to the stage in Edinburgh at the 15th annual World Wide Web Conference on Friday 26th May.

The final day of the conference is entitled 'The Impact of the Web on Health' and scrutinizes the way the net has revolutionised the relationship between health professionals and the general public.

Delegates will hear speeches on patient confidentiality, the impact of the Semantic Web on healthcare and the use and management of healthcare information via the Internet.

A keynote address will be given by Richard Granger, Director General of IT for the NHS, on the modernisation of their IT programme.

Also speaking are Sir Michael Rawlings, Chairman of the UK National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence, Alan Rector, Professor of Medical Informatics at the University of Manchester and Celia Boyer, executive director of the Health on the Net Foundation.

The medical theme continues through the W3C tracks and tutorials with the topics tackling the role of technology in the flow of healthcare innovation, the development of Semantic Web rules and social information spaces, and internationalisation techniques.
