The monitoring system senSAVE offers 24-hour telemedicinal health care.

senSAVE is a radio networked monitoring system of intelligent sensors. The sensors for wireless ECG data recording are integrated into a shirt. Further sensors attached to the body measure other vital medicinal parameter like blood pressure and blood oxygen saturation.

The system assesses the physical state and condition of the patient, identifies state degradations and alarms the physician in case of emergency. The alarm is raised via online connection to the medical practice, the hospital or a medical service center. Through senSAVE the physician receives important data providing the basis for diagnosis and therapy.

senSAVE supports patients at high cardiovascular risk like chronic and elderly patients. The system is tailored to the needs of all participants - the physicians, the nursing staff and the patients. The miniaturized wireless sensors are easy to attach, handy to change and pleasant to wear - also within the convenience of the patient's home.

In a teamwork project scientists of five Fraunhofer Institutes accomplish with senSAVE a comprehensive solution for telemedicinal health care. Scientists from the areas medical technology, microsystems technology, information and communication technology cooperate with experts in medicine and health care. Team members are Fraunhofer Institute for Industrial Engineering IAO in Stuttgart, Fraunhofer Institute for Biomedical Engineering IBMT in Sankt Ingbert, Fraunhofer Institute for Photonic Microsystems IPMS in Dresden and Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Information Technology FIT in Sankt Augustin.

The project is managed by Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits IIS in Erlangen.
