Professor Tom Borody of Sydney, Australia will present the results of over 20 years of research into an effective treatment for Crohn's Disease. He will deliver data from a clinical study of 213 patients in Australia along with the responses to treatment of over 50 of Prof. Borody's own patients, to his anti-mycobacteria therapy research.
According to Prof. Borody's report, as many as 95% of his patients have responded to treatment with full remission achieved by 65% of these patients. Dr. Borody says, "These results exceed all documented evidence of response to Crohn's Disease therapies and promise significant relief for a large number of the estimated one million Crohn's patients around the world."
Dr. Borody MD PhD FRACP, a graduate of the University of New South Wales, from which he holds a doctorate in medicine, will be presenting his findings in an open forum at:
The Suffolk Y Jewish Community Center

"New" Crohn's Disease Treatment
posted by Susan Christiance on 2 Mar 2006 at 10:40 pmI first heard about the treatment for Crohn's (which treats it as a MAP infection and uses an antibiotic cocktail to treat it) on NPR about three or four years ago. As a Crohn's sufferer, I immediately started looking into it. I did discover that I test positive for MAP, but when I took that information to a local gastroenterologist, he just said he didn't know anything about this approach and if there were anything to it he would know about it from the two consultant gastroenterologists that tour the country giving advice to their colleagues (I found out later that these consultants are heavily underwritten by the drug companies that have a vested interest in keeping things the ways they are).
I desperately wanted to get on the anti-biotics, but could not find an M.D. to write a prescription for me. Finally, I was able to enlist the aid of a Naturopathic Physician I knew (it turned out, fortunately, that the two antibiotics used to treat MAP are on the Naturopath's formulary in Oregon). I've been on the antibiotic treatment now for a little over two years with absolutely spectacular results. I am lucky to have the resources to pay for this myself, as it is not cheap and my insurance company won't pay for a prescription written by a non-M.D. I have been awaiting with interest Dr. Borody's study and I understand that he has formed his own drug company and stands to make some money. I hope he does. I hope he laughs all the way to the bank. Go Dr. Borody!
15 Year Old Boy With Crohn's disease
posted by danielle on 19 Mar 2010 at 11:28 amHey there, my son Michael has Crohn's. We go to Lucille Packard childrens hospital @ Stanford every 6 to 7 weeks. He still has a lot of pain, fatigue etc. I have an idea of a three day awareness festival with musicians, and huge tents that would have all the latest info. For whatever the issue might be. Cancer, diabetes, Parkinson’s etc. i live in Monterey ca. and thought the perfect place to have it is Laguna seca speedway. I thought the drug companies could wrap their logos around racecars/like nascar and maybe one would sponsor me to make this idea-dream really happen. Maybe you would help me thanks for what you have done already/Crohn’s disease dr.s
Fixing Crohn's with a synbiotic
posted by John Ellerman on 22 Sep 2010 at 5:41 amI won't mention the product because of my pecuniary interest in it but thought you may be interested in what I have to share. I am producing a synbiotic which is a probiotic plus prebiotic fibre ingredients which boost the 30 billion acidophilus and bifidos in each dose more than 50-fold to be equivalent to taking over a trillion cells per dose. I was speaking at a meeting in Sydney some months ago and a naturopath shared that she had been treating (with our product) a 14 year old girl who had Crohn's and whose colon the doctors wanted to remove. After four days the rectal bleeding and pain stopped and six months later, after using the product every day, she had a colonoscopy and the gastroenterologist afterwards demanded to know "why they were subjecting a 14 year-old girl with a perfect colon to this procedure". Another naturopath jumped up and said she had had the same experience with one of her patients. I personally have seen quite a few individuals with Crohn's who have had the same sort of experience as far as pain relief within days and being able to stay out of hospital. It seems to me that the answer is quite simple. You simply deliver the best strains in high levels to the colon and the colon repairs itself while the pathogens are being supressed. We see all sorts of bowel problems promptly reversed with our product, which is the result of about eight years of research in a government-funded Cooperative Research Centre based at the University of NSW, here in Sydney and involving scientists from CSIRO, UNSW and industry. I was on the management committee of that CRC.
