You are invited to an advance news briefing for the world's only conference on cancer and the adolescent on Wednesday 29 March 2006, and to the two-day conference itself on Thursday 30 and Friday 31 March 2006. Organised by the pioneering charity, Teenage Cancer Trust, the two-day conference will see leading specialists from around the world present new research findings on:

* Incidence
* Possible causes for adolescent cancer
* Treatment and survival (including the dearth of clinical trials for this age group)
* The problems doctors and patients face in discussing the effects on future fertility
* Problems of compliance with treatment
* The effect of private medical insurance on survival in countries with no national health service
* Whether girls should be routinely vaccinated against HPV

Speakers at the conference include Drs Allan Pacey, Adam Glaser, Beni Gesundheit, Jeremy Whelan, Archie Bleyer, and Professors Jillian Birch, Tim Eden, Sophie Fossa, Henry Kitchener and many more.

* Ms Sam Smith, Lead/Manager Adolescent Oncology - TCT Young Oncology Unit, Christie Hospital, Manchester: â€" "There is a desperate need for specialist training for nurses treating teenagers and young adults â€" the unique needs of teenagers and young adults with cancer will continue to be unrecognised until this is addressed."

Teenage and young adult cancer patients will be available to speak to the media at the briefing.
