The Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO) will present its Summer Eye Research Conference (SERC), "Toward the Prevention of Age-related Macular Degeneration" July 9-12, 2006, at the Sanibel Harbour Resort & Spa in Fort Myers, Fla.

This four-day conference is designed to be highly interactive and will include in-depth presentations by invited speakers and researchers selected from submitted abstracts and poster session presentations. Attendance is limited to 200 scientists, postdoctoral fellows, and students. Deadline for abstract submissions is Wednesday, May 10 at 11:59 p.m. ET.

Conference topics will include: Epidemiology and Risk Factors; Phenotyping AMD; Genetic Risk Factors; Micronutrients and AMD; Fatty Acids, Omega-3 and AMD; and Inflammation and Other Potential Approaches for Prevention of AMD.

The conference organizers are Johanna Seddon, MD, ScM, Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, Boston, and Eric Souied, MD, PhD, Creteil University Eye Clinic, Creteil, France.
