Indianapolis/Brussels - A Science Conference entitled "Innovations in Biosciences for Animal and Human Health" organised by Dow AgroSciences will take place in Brussels on 7 June 2006. The conference will put the spotlight on major innovation issues in bioscience developments, namely the first regulatory license for a plant-cell-produced vaccine and recent advances in healthy oils.

Dow AgroSciences R&D capability will be featured in the first part of the conference by senior policy makers, industry representatives and leading-edge researchers who will discuss how to create science solutions in Europe that can prevent diseases and reduce health risks for both humans and animals.

During the day key bioscience developments will be presented in the two parallel seminars. The first is entitled "Healthier living for European citizens - innovations in healthy oils for the benefit of consumers, agriculture and the food industry" . The aim of the seminar is to explain and discuss the benefits of the healthy oils which have the potential to replace oils high in saturated fat and hydrogenated oils containing trans-fats commonly used by the food industry today. It will be also an opportunity to meet partners and explore ideas for future collaboration in the area of healthy oils.

The second parallel seminar, entitled "Plant-Cell produced technologies: new solutions to existing and emerging threats to healthy living" , will present Plant-Cell-Based technologies and explain what has been achieved to date with an example of the recent first regulatory license for a plant-cell-produced vaccine. The seminar will also focus on R&D collaboration available under FP7 in developing new products and scientific solutions in the context of animal and human health.

The Dow AgroSciences Science Conference will be the main event for all involved and interested in innovations in bioscience for animal and human health and will bring together decision makers, scientists, researchers, academics, networks, and collaborators from Europe and other continents.
