Tokyo, April, 2006 (JCN) - Shionogi and Nippon Kayaku jointly announced on April 20 that they have received approval for Cetrotide, an agent for preventing premature ovulation, from the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare.

Cetrotide (cetrorelix acetate), which was developed by German company Zentaris AG, is currently available in 92 countries worldwide.

Nippon Kayaku will import the agent from Zentaris and manufacture it, while Shionogi will market the drug, which is scheduled to be available in September. Through the introduction of Cetrotide, the two companies aim to contribute to fertility treatment in Japan.
