An Oklahoma House committee on Wednesday voted 16-1 to approve a bill (S 1294) that would expand health care subsidies for small businesses, the Daily Oklahoman reports. The bill, part of Gov. Brad Henry's (R) agenda, would expand Medicaid subsidies paid for with tobacco tax revenue to include businesses with 50 or fewer employees. The subsidy currently is available for businesses with 25 or fewer employees. The bill, which has passed the House Appropriations and Budget Committee, will move to the full House for consideration (Daily Oklahoman, 4/20).
