Olympus Medical Systems announced on June 8 that it will launch the EVIS LUCERA Bronchovideoscope OLYMPUS BF TYPE F260, a from its videoscope series EVIS, on June 22.

The BE TYPE F260 adopts a newly-developed ultrasensitive CCD camera to enable autofluorescence imaging. Accordingly, it will contribute to the early diagnosis of lung cancer and precancerous lesions in the bronchi.

The BY TYPE F260 can be used with the company's new endoscopic video system EVIS LUCERA SPECTRUM, which is scheduled for release on June 10.

Initially launched in Japan, the BE TYPE F260 will soon be available in Europe, China, Korea, Taiwan and Singapore. The company will exhibit the new device at the 29th Annual Meeting of the Japan Society for Respiratory Endoscopy held on June 8 and 9.
