The British Menopause Society and the Royal Society of Medicine Press have today co-published a practical guide to help women manage menopause.
The Menopause: What you need to know is written by leading experts and brings together the latest medical evidence in an easy to read format without the confusing medical jargon.
"The aim of this book is to provide practical, unbiased and non-promotional information about treatment of menopause and its management," said Dr Margaret Rees, one of the book's editors.
"It's not quirky and nor does it make light of the issue. Rather, the book deals with the most up-to-date facts on menopause and provides information in a clear cut and easily accessible manner.
"The book also discusses treatment and lifestyle options clearly and concisely and includes a discussion on oestrogen and non-oestrogen based therapies, and the benefits and drawbacks of HRT.
"Importantly, the book contains answers to all those menopausal questions that you may forget to ask your GP," Dr Rees said.
The British Menopause Society is an independent scientific society of health professionals. Its aims are to raise awareness about the menopause and improve the treatment that menopausal women receive. Founded in 1989, the BMS produces the Journal of the British Menopause Society of which Dr Margaret Rees is editor.
The Menopause: What you need to know 2nd Edition by M Rees, DW Purdie and S Hope is published by the Royal Society of Medicine Press. It is available for purchase from http://www.rsmpress.co.uk and all good book stores. RRP 10.95
