Senior Appointment At Regional Chapter Of American Diabetes Association

The American Diabetes Association (ADA) announced today the appointment of Katherine Rogers to the position of executive director for Central Maryland.

Rogers assumes responsibility for the Maryland Chapter's $1.5 million budget with more than $750,000 generated from special events. She is also responsible for creating and implementing strategic marketing and development plans and building new relationships, particularly among the area's corporate leaders. In addition to raising the ADA's profile in the market, Rogers will focus on volunteer recruitment, institutional advancement, adapting business management strategies, and community outreach initiatives that target populations disproportionally impacted by diabetes.

"I am very excited to be a member of the team at one of the country's leading health organizations," stated Rogers. "My primary goal is to develop a strong corporate and individual base of donors and volunteers to support the association's overall vision and mission," she added.

"Kathy comes to the American Diabetes Association with a solid business and development background and an outstanding record of professional achievement," stated Andrea Maddox, vice president for the eastern division. "Her business acumen and innovative style will guide the area in developing sound strategic goals that will solidify the ADA's strength as a business operation in today's competitive corporate environment," added Maddox.

Rogers has 20 years of experience in strategic planning, business and board development, and community leadership. Prior to joining the ADA, she was senior director of communications and marketing for The Endocrine Society. There, she was responsible for all aspects of corporate communications and brand image as well as management of the department's $2 million budget. In addition, Rogers provided high-level marketing and development support for The Hormone Foundation, the patient education affiliate of The Endocrine Society.

Previously, Rogers was director of membership for the American Foundation for Urologic Disease, where she was credited with creating a strategic plan for generating restricted and non-restricted funds, which generated more than $2.5 million in revenue.
