Lupin Pharmaceuticals, Inc. announced today that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has granted final approval for its Abbreviated New Drug Application (ANDA) for Meloxicam Tablets, 7.5 mg and 15 mg. The Company intends to initiate shipments immediately.

Lupin's Meloxicam Tablets are the AB-rated generic equivalent of Boehringer Ingelheim's MOBIC(R) Tablets. Meloxicam is a member of the enolic acid group of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). It is indicated for the relief of the signs and symptoms of osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. U.S. sales for MOBIC(R) Tablets were approximately $1.1 billion for the 12-month period ending December 2005 according to IMS Health.

This is Lupin's 14th ANDA approval by the US FDA to date and the fourth in its fiscal year.
